Cellar Sense ("we", "our", or "the app") is designed with privacy as a core principle. We collect the minimum data necessary to provide the AI sommelier experience. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

Data We Do Not Collect

We do not require you to create an account or provide your name, email, or phone number.
We do not sell your data to third parties.
We do not track your location.
We do not use advertising networks or third-party analytics SDKs.

Data Stored Locally on Your Device

The following information is stored exclusively on your device using secure local storage and is never transmitted to our servers:

Cellar entries — wines you add to your personal cellar, including names, vintage, region, rating, and tasting notes.
Conversation history — saved sommelier recommendations and menu scan results.
Premium status — whether you have upgraded to Premium (managed locally).

Data Sent to Our Servers

When you use the AI sommelier chat or wine menu scanner, your query or menu image is sent to our API server to be processed. This data is:

Sent over an encrypted HTTPS connection.
Used only to generate a response and is not stored after the request completes.
Not linked to your identity in any way.

Third-Party AI Services

Cellar Sense uses Google Gemini AI to power wine recommendations and menu analysis. When you submit a query, it is processed by Google's Gemini API. Google's use of this data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy. We do not send any personally identifiable information to Google.

Photos and Camera

When you use the wine menu scanner, you may grant the app permission to access your camera or photo library. Photos are converted to a format suitable for AI analysis and transmitted to our server for processing. Photos are not stored on our servers after analysis is complete.

Children's Privacy

Cellar Sense is intended for users who are of legal drinking age in their jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect data from children under the age of 13. If you believe a child has used the app, please contact us so we can address the situation.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
